Planning The Perfect Wedding

The last week before your wedding day can be a stressful time filled with many details that need to be confirmed. A few last minute details that need to be resolved in the weeks before your wedding include confirming the details of your honeymoon, packing for your honeymoon, providing catering for the final count of the number of guests, confirm the details with florist, photographer, DJ or band and a limousine driver. If the couple is hosting rehearsal dinner, now is also the time to confirm this setting. It’s important to attend all the tasks but also important to take some time to get some rest and relaxation as well. If you have friends and family members who are willing to help, you can delegate many tasks to reduce the stress of last week before your wedding.

The first thing to consider is whether you want a live band or a DJ to perform at your wedding. There are several things to consider when deciding between a live band or DJ. The first thing is the price. A DJ is likely to cost significantly less than a live band. A DJ is usually only one or possibly two people while the band usually consists of an average of about five players. There is where you usually see a rise in costs because the cost that you see in the band is usually split between several people and therefore higher than the cost for one or two DJs.

Most caterers also need a final count for the number of guests in the weeks before your wedding. If all of your guests have not responded to your invitation, you may want to consider calling them instead with the assumption that they will not come to the wedding. This phone call can save you embarrassment is not ready for additional guests. Having a confirmed response from all of your guests will be invited to make sure that you give the caterer an accurate guest numbers.

The most important tip for choosing a live band or DJ is to make sure that you have the chance to see them perform before you commit to their service. Most live bands and DJs who perform at weddings gain popularity through their performances at other weddings. The best way to find a live band or DJ that will do a great job on your wedding is to use a live band or DJ that you enjoyed the wedding a friend or family member.

Rehearsal dinner is usually held the night before the wedding so it is important to confirm the details of the rehearsal dinner in the last week before the wedding. Whether the couple themselves are hosting a dinner or other person is taking responsibility of the event, still needed to confirm all the details such as time, location and number of guests. Also, because the couple usually use the rehearsal dinner to thank their parents, wedding parties and anyone who has supported them in planning a wedding, now would be the time to plan out exactly what you plan to say thank you for this offering. While it is important to speak from the heart, it is also important to ensure that no person who has really gone out of their way to help the couple is left out of thank you speech.

You may find that there are a variety of live bands and DJs are available for rent in your area. This can make choosing just one a difficult task. One great way to make sure that you choose a good live band or DJ is to seek recommendations from close friends or family members. If you do not attend their wedding entertainment or do not remember them, ask them if they would recommend a live band or DJ. If they come highly recommended, ask your friend or family member if you can borrow a copy of their wedding video. Pay particular attention to the parts of the video where the guests danced and decide whether you think the live band or DJ might work for your wedding.

Although you may be sure that you want to hire a particular band or DJ but try to interview at least three to five potential candidates before making your final decision only for comparison. You may find you feel more comfortable with service providers or that there is another band or DJ that suits your needs better than your previously preferred candidate. Finally, after you make your decision make sure you get a detailed contract that determines all of the details of your wedding and all your expectations.

May represent the best albums of the photographer’s work, and proof book shows all the typical images he captured during the wedding day. How does the picture look to you? Are they fun to look at? Is the lighting and display good color for you? Is the photographer what style you’re looking for? Most of our bridal couples looking for a mixture of photojournalistic images and classic posed traditional. Make sure the photographer you can afford, and comfortable with, taking the style of image you want for your wedding. If you do not like the work of photographers, there is no need to consider them further. Also, make sure you see the work done by the photographer who will photograph your wedding. Some studios will show you many good works of various photographers, but will not guarantee you will get a photographer whose work you like best. Sometimes, a husband and wife team like ours is the best way to ensure that photographers work you see is the work that you will get.

2. Do you like the photographer’s personality and attitude? Is the photographer confident, relaxed and not nervous fool? Does the photographer have a good sense of humor? Remember, the photographer will be present through most of your wedding day, interacting with you, your wedding, your family and your guests. A flexible, demanding, and tense photographers can make your day enjoyable. I know you do not want it! Make sure you and your spouse-to-be you are getting on well with the photographer you choose. If the photographer will have a second helping photographers at your wedding, meet the assistant photographer and make sure you feel comfortable with them as well. To know your photographer before you select them, it’s really important you meet with them personally. If it is physically impossible to meet with photographers, you should make sure a few testimonials from clients before they make you feel comfortable with the photographer’s personality.

3. Does the photographer have a strong sense of commitment to photographing your wedding and professional work ethic? Whether a professional photographer using a camera, lens and flash system? Does he have at least some lenses that will produce good images in low light situations (f2.8 aperture)? Does the photographer use a soft box on flash and keep the flash above the lens in both horizontal and vertical photos to minimize shadows in their images? Does he always carry a complete set of backup equipment, or bring a second photographer with a set of equipment, for each wedding? How do photographers and their assistants will be dressed on your wedding day? Ask them. Hopefully, they will be professional enough to arrive wearing a suit, tuxedo, or dress style. Although, if your photographer is a guy and he said he came in dress style, you might worry a bit about it :-) . You must get the feeling that your photographer is dedicated to ensuring your wedding day is beautiful, and that all the love, emotions and important details will be captured in images you will be able to enjoy for the rest of your life.

4. Do you have experience of the photographer to anticipate all the good things that will happen on your wedding day, and experience to deal with bad things that can happen as well? An experienced photographer will have photographed enough weddings to anticipate and capture special moments during your day, and important details that may easily be overlooked by a “newbie”. An experienced photographer also know that things sometimes go wrong and be able to anticipate and deal with them, often without you even knowing that something was wrong. That is why a complete set of backup equipment is necessary. My little kit duct tape, extra cables, pen knife with scissors, and band-aids have been saving lives several times.

5. Does your photographer offer the right value? Not the right price, but, the correct value. If your photographer does not have all of the four characteristics above, it may not matter what their price. If the photographer has all four, it is a big part of the value they offer you. In this case, the price should be less important. Make sure your photographer will provide what is really important to you and to face with you about costs for everything you want. Someone who offers a “low” price on the front may sound attractive. But things change when you find they charge extra for each stop location, for digital image files, for a studio set up at the reception, and so on. A photographer that cost twice as much, but it covers almost everything, can often be better value for you.

So, there you have it. Choose your wedding photographer based on five factors above and you will go a long way toward having your dream wedding. Good luck and congratulations again.
